Descriptions:
High grade matcha tea from Yamamasa Koyamaen
Koicha (thick tea) grade Uji matcha.
This full-bodied matcha offers bold umami flavours of roasted seeds, coffee, cacao and dark chocolate. Its sweet, creamy finish and tea aroma make it perfect for koicha.
Tasting notes: Roasted seaweed, grassy, buttery.
Origin: Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
A deep, full-bodied intense koicha tea with a long aftertaste offering flavours of toasted seeds, roasted coffee, cocoa beans and dark chocolate with a hint of creaminess. This tea is a good choice for those seeking characteristic, instead of mild, sweet flavours. When drunk as a thin tea (koicha), the harmony of the tea’s flavours is easily disturbed, often bringing astringency and bitterness to the fore. It’s therefore worth preparing it at a higher dilution (70 ml 80°C water for 1.5 g of tea). It is best consumed as a thick tea (koicha)
The meaning of Tennouzan "天王山" :
"Tennou-zan" or "Mt. Tennou" is a mountain in southern Kyoto prefecture that was the place of a historic battle now considered a turning point in history. Due to this, "Tennou-zan" itself has come to represent such elements of victory or failure, and of determining one's fate decisively. It is also referred to as "the greatest battle" or "the decisive one".
